Many fans of the TV show Heartland know Amber Marshall as Amy Fleming. But back in 2013, her real-life wedding to Shawn Turner looked so much like the show, it could have been part of an episode.
The backdrop was made of open pastures, wooden fences, and the beautiful Alberta hills that viewers have seen on TV since 2007. Shawn even built the wooden altar himself using local timber, and the guests dressed in Western style. It wasn’t a wedding trying to look rustic—it was just their actual, everyday life.

Familiar Faces in the Crowd
The guest list made the day feel even more like a Heartland gathering. Several cast and crew members came to celebrate, including:
- Shaun Johnston
- Chris Potter
- Michelle Morgan
- Alisha Newton
- Heather Conkie (Executive Producer)
- Craig Wrobleski (Director of Photography)
Since Amber had already spent years working closely with these people on set, having them there felt completely natural. It wasn’t Amy Fleming’s wedding, but it was easy to see why fans saw the connection.
A Western Send-Off
After saying their vows, the couple didn’t leave in a limousine. Instead, they rode away together on horseback—Amber on her horse, Hawk, and Shawn on Cash.
There was no big celebrity production or dramatic exit. It was just the newlyweds, their horses, and the open ranch.

Back to Work and Ranch Life
There was no long, luxurious honeymoon. The wedding took place during a brief break in the Heartland filming schedule, and Amber was back on set shortly after. Her daily life on the ranch continued just as it had before.
Amber has always lived close to the land and the animals she cares for, and her wedding was simply a reflection of the life she truly loves.
