Amber Marshall did not walk down the aisle at her wedding.
She rode in on horseback.
The Heartland actress married Shawn Turner on July 27, 2013, in an outdoor Alberta ranch ceremony near High River. Her father, David, led the horse as Marshall arrived sidesaddle in her wedding gown, with her dog Remi — who also appeared on Heartland — part of the day too.
For longtime fans, that detail alone made the wedding hard to separate from the show.
She Chose the Ranch Over a Fancy Venue
Marshall and Turner did not build the day around a ballroom, a hotel, or a polished celebrity setting.
They chose the land.
The ceremony took place outdoors, surrounded by horses, pasture, fences, and the kind of Alberta view Heartland fans have been watching since 2007.
Turner helped build the wooden altar himself from local timber. Guests dressed in Western style. The whole setup stayed close to the life Marshall already lived off camera.
It was not a wedding trying to look rustic.
It was rustic.

Heartland Faces Were in the Crowd
The guest list also made the day feel familiar for fans.
Several Heartland cast and crew members attended, including Shaun Johnston, Chris Potter, Michelle Morgan, Alisha Newton, executive producer Heather Conkie, and director of photography Craig Wrobleski.
By then, Marshall had already spent years working with them on ranch sets, barn scenes, family stories, and horse training moments.
So seeing them gathered at her real wedding gave the day another layer.
It was not Amy Fleming’s wedding.
But it was easy to see why fans made the connection.
Hawk, Cash, and a Western Exit
After the ceremony, Marshall and Turner left on horseback.
Marshall rode Hawk. Turner rode Cash.
That exit became one of the most remembered details from the day, especially because it matched so closely with the world fans already associated with her.
There was no huge production around it. No dramatic celebrity sendoff.
Just the bride, the groom, the horses, and the ranch.

Married Life Went Right Back to the Ranch
Marshall did not disappear into a long Hollywood honeymoon after the wedding.
The ceremony happened during a break from Heartland filming, and work continued soon after. Ranch life continued too.
That part says as much about her as the horseback entrance.
Marshall has always lived close to the world she plays on screen. Her wedding to Turner simply showed that connection in one of the clearest ways possible.
A handmade altar.
A dog fans recognized.
A father leading the horse.
And Amber Marshall riding into her own wedding like only she could.
