Jimmy’s Not Done Yet: Jefferson White Joins Marshals Season 2

Jimmy Hurdstrom is trading the ranch for the spinoff.

Jefferson White is rejoining the Yellowstone universe. CBS confirmed he’ll recur in Season 2 of Marshals as Jimmy Hurdstrom — not a blink-and-you-miss-it cameo, but a real return to the character fans rooted for across the original series.

Season 2 premieres Sunday, October 4, 2026, on CBS (8:30/7:30c), then streams the next day on Paramount+.

Why Jimmy still matters

On Yellowstone, Jimmy went from a directionless kid who broke bones learning to ride to a real cowboy who earned his place — first on the Dutton ranch, then at the Four Sixes in Texas.

In a world full of ruthless and scheming characters, he was the rare one viewers actually rooted for: bruised, awkward, and big-hearted.

White sounded ready to keep going:

“I’m thrilled to dive into the world of Marshals and continue exploring the American West,” he said. “The cast and crew are stacked full of my favorite actors and filmmakers, and I’m honored to join them. Jimmy and I have been through a lot together, and I can’t wait to see what’s next for us.”

Where he fits

Marshals already pulls from the mothership — Luke Grimes leads as Kayce Dutton, with Brecken Merrill (Tate), Gil Birmingham (Thomas Rainwater), and Mo Brings Plenty among the familiar faces.

Exactly how Jimmy lands in Kayce’s Montana world after settling at the 6666 hasn’t been spelled out yet. The show has said his return will be explained on-screen.

What the casting does clear up: Jimmy’s story isn’t finished. Dropping him into Marshals gives the spinoff an instant hit of warmth and grit — and gives longtime fans a reason to tune in just to see what trouble finds him next.
