Amber Marshall’s Rustic Ranch Wedding Could’ve Been a Heartland Episode

They didn’t book a venue. They didn’t scout locations. Amber Marshall and Shawn Turner stood on the land they ride on, work on, and come home to every night — and decided that was enough. The Heartland actress and her longtime partner built their entire wedding day around that one instinct: stay close to home, let the place tell the story.
Amber once put it plainly in an interview: “Why not get married where we live — where we work and play?” That was the north star.

A Wedding True to the Land
The wedding unfolded on open Alberta pasture near High River — the kind of view Heartland fans already know by muscle memory. Horses grazed right past the aisle. Weathered fences framed the ceremony. Nothing felt staged. No planner. No aesthetic committee. Just real work, real land, real people.
- Shawn built the wooden arch himself — sanded, stained, and hauled into place.
- Family laid out burlap runners and mason-jar lanterns they’d been saving for years.
- Wildflowers and honey jars replaced centerpieces and favors.
A line from Amber stuck: “Having our families pitch in made it feel like one big celebration.”

The Ride Down the Aisle
When it was time, Amber didn’t appear on foot. She came in on Hawk, her horse, dress draped across the saddle, bouquet pressed to her lap. Her father held the reins. Shawn waited in a charcoal suit and boots.
She later joked it felt less like a wedding entrance and more like starting a fresh scene on Heartland — that same snap of excitement, that same pressure-but-not-pressure energy.
“I expected to be nervous… but riding in felt exciting and joyful.”
They left the ceremony the same way: mounted, laughing, with the horses tossing in a few unscripted steps that made the crowd louder.
“Riding in felt more like filming a new episode — exciting and joyful.” — Amber Marshall

Laughter, Music, and a Prairie Sky
White tents. Long farm tables. Prairie dusk. Alberta food served family-style by the Heartland catering team. Cast and crew mixed with relatives like it was a wrap party and family reunion at once.
There were speeches that landed deep:
- Michelle Morgan shared early memories of watching Amber find her stride on set.
- Chris Potter raised a glass like a proud TV dad who, for the night, felt like a real one too.
Their first dance was slow and loose under strings of prairie lights — “Timing Is Everything” playing while guests showed up in jeans, boots, and whatever felt right. The night stretched until the stars were the only lights left.
No big honeymoon. Just horses, home, and work.
Amber and Shawn didn’t rush off to anywhere. Heartland filming continued. Ranch chores continued. Married life slipped into their routine without ceremony — exactly how they both like things.
Amber said it best:
“There’s nothing I’d rather jump into — literally and figuratively — than this adventure with Shawn.”

You and Sean are such a beautiful couple… I love that your heart is on your sleeve, and you’re as genuine in your normal life as you are on the screen. I wish you both many years of happiness. I never fought about visiting Canada, until I saw how beautiful it is on heartland. So that is on my bucket list… Someday I would absolutely love to visit the Alberta area of Canada.
