Fans know Amber Marshall as Amy Fleming. On July 27, 2013, she married photographer Shawn Turner at their ranch near High River, Alberta — and the day looked enough like Heartland that fans still do a double take at the photos.
It wasn’t a set. It was their home.
In a HELLO! Canada interview, Marshall said the venue was never a debate. “I’m a homebody and so is Shawn,” she said. “Right away we thought, ‘We’re having it at home.'”
They planned the day themselves. Shawn built the wooden altar from local timber with friends and inscribed their names on it. Marshall later called it “the most beautiful memento of our day.”
About 150 people came. Guests were told to stay casual. “Some people wore jeans and boots, full western attire,” she told HELLO!. “I wanted everyone to be casual and have fun.”
There was no church aisle.

Marshall rode in sidesaddle on her horse Hawk, in a strapless gown by Private Label by G, carrying a lilac bouquet her grandmother arranged. Her father walked beside her holding the reins — he’d only learned to work with the horse moments before the ceremony.
For anyone who’d watched Amy Fleming ride for years, the image was almost too on-brand. This time the horse, the dress, and the Alberta pasture weren’t for camera.
Cast and crew showed up as family, not industry guests. Michelle Morgan (Lou) and Chris Potter (Tim) were there. Alisha Newton (Georgie) and Shaun Johnston (Jack) were among the guests listed in contemporary coverage, along with executive producer Heather Conkie and cinematographer Craig Wrobleski.
Marshall told HELLO! that having Morgan there mattered in a personal way: “I don’t have a sister, but having Michelle there, who plays my sister on the show, was so important to me. It was like having a sister there.”
Both fathers spoke. Then Potter — her TV father — toasted the couple while the cast joined in.
Under big white tents, dinner came from the same caterers who feed the Heartland crew (Cal-B-Ques, per the wedding press release). Marshall and Turner’s first dance was Garrett Hedlund’s “Timing Is Everything” from Country Strong.
After their first kiss as husband and wife, they didn’t walk to a limo. They mounted up — Marshall on Hawk, Turner on Cash — and rode toward the reception.
“The applause made the horses a little nervous,” Marshall told HELLO!. “So they went off a little quicker than usual. It was quite an exit!”

HELLO! described the gallop as “if not quite into the sunset, at least toward the reception.” That line is the magazine’s, not hers — and the exit still looks like a Heartland cold open.
Marshall wasn’t staging Amy Fleming’s wedding for a day. Horses, ranch life, and Alberta were already her world — she and Turner met at a horse show — and the ceremony reflected that without forcing the parallel.
No Bartletts or Flemings at the altar. No director calling cut. Just Marshall on Hawk, her father on the reins, Shawn at an altar he’d built, cast friends in jeans and boots, and a ride-off that went a little faster than planned.
