Stella Parton Called Out the ‘AI Garbage’ and Snarky Posts After Dolly’s Death — and Named Exactly What the Family Has Been Dealing With

Following the heartbreaking death of country music icon Dolly Parton, her younger sister Stella is speaking out against online negativity, rumors, and fake social media posts.

Dolly grew up in a big family of 12 children, and her siblings have always been fiercely protective of her. On Friday, September 4, Stella took to social media to directly address what the family has been dealing with while trying to grieve.

A Message to Supporters and Online Critics

Stella, who is 77 and had her own successful country music career with hits like “I Want to Hold You in My Dreams Tonight,” started by thanking people who have offered genuine love and condolences.

“First let me say, thank you to the ones of you who have shown ‘genuine’ support and love during this time of our family bereavement,” Stella wrote. “We will be okay in time, but each of us will grieve in our own personal way.”

However, she didn’t shy away from addressing the darker side of internet fame. She explained that grieving in public has exposed the family to harsh comments, manufactured rumors, and endless fake AI-generated posts about Dolly.

“Sadly, because of the way our lives have been lived in front of the public, we have no choice but to be subjected to incredible pressure and insensitivity from strangers,” she shared.

Honoring Dolly with Kindness

Stella noted that Dolly spent her entire life using music and kindness to bring people together, making the wave of nasty commentary and clickbait especially frustrating to watch.

She urged people to think about how they act online and encouraged everyone to honor Dolly by following her example:

“Finally, I ask that you show more compassion and wisdom as we move forward in life. Use my sister’s life as an example of tolerance and respect toward others. It’s not about the most clever comments, AI garbage, or snarky tweets. At the end of the day or the end of a life, how will you feel about yourself?”

Stella made it clear that while internet trolls and misinformation will eventually move on to the next headline, Dolly’s real legacy will always be about generosity, tolerance, and love.
