Kayce Dutton Is Back — Y: Marshals Trailer Makes His Fresh Start Look Brutal

CBS’s Yellowstone spinoff brings Luke Grimes back as Kayce, with a March 1, 2026 premiere date.

I didn’t think I’d feel that weird little Yellowstone stomach-flip again so soon, but here we are.

The first trailer for CBS’s Yellowstone spinoff, Y: Marshals, is out — and it’s Luke Grimes stepping right back into Kayce Dutton like he never left.

The first trailer is right here.

And honestly? The vibe is exactly what I hoped it would be: Kayce trying to move forward… while his past is still basically sitting on his chest.

In the trailer, he straight up says he’s been fighting to get out from under the “weight of the Yellowstone,” and then drops that line about losing his teammates, his parents, even his brothers — and how sometimes good men have to do bad things, but he’s trying to find a new beginning. That’s Kayce in one breath.

The setup is simple, but it works: with the ranch behind him, Kayce joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals in Montana. Cowboy instincts, Navy SEAL background, and “range justice” energy all mashed together into a procedural-style series.

We’re also not just getting “new world, new people.” Tate is in this (and he’s older now), plus Thomas Rainwater and Mo are back too — which immediately makes it feel connected to Yellowstone’s Montana, not just a random spinoff wearing the name.

On the new team side, the main names being reported are:
Pete Calvin (Logan Marshall-Green), Belle Skinner (Arielle Kebbel), Andrea Cruz (Ash Santos), and Miles Kittle (Tatanka Means).

What I’m most curious about is the tone. The showrunner has talked about Kayce being more focused on being a father now, which makes sense — because if there’s one thing Kayce has always wanted, it’s peace… and he’s never really gotten it.

And now he’s picking a job where peace is basically not an option.

CBS has the premiere date set for Sunday, March 1, 2026 (8 p.m. ET), with streaming on Paramount+ right after. So yeah, this isn’t far away at all.
