“He’s Still a Stud”: Bridget Moynahan on Watching Magnum P.I. and Working With Tom Selleck
Bridget Moynahan on Blue Bloods, Tom Selleck, and the Shoes That Carried Her
Bridget Moynahan has spent nearly a decade on Blue Bloods, the CBS drama that often feels more like a real family gathering than a police procedural. With the show heading into its tenth season, she joined Access Live to chat about the show's longevity, her personal growth—and, of course, Tom Selleck.
Moynahan, who plays Assistant District Attorney Erin Reagan, shared that the the cast felt close from the beginning. “It really does feel like family,” she said, and fans seem to agree—the weekly Reagan family dinners are now a signature part of the series.
But the interview took a fun turn when co-host Kit Hoover brought up Magnum P.I., the show that made Tom Selleck a household name in the 1980s.
“I did watch Magnum. He was a stud. He still is—that’s the thing,” Bridget laughed.

And the mustache?
“I don’t talk about his mustache,” she joked. “I put my foot down about that.”
The Boots That Helped Her Move On
Bridget wasn’t just there to talk about TV. She also promoted her book, Our Shoes, Ourselves, a collection of essays by 40 women sharing the stories behind their most meaningful shoes.
Her personal story? A pair of motorcycle boots that helped her get through one of the most public times in her life—after her breakup with NFL star Tom Brady.
“That was a time when there was a lot of attention on my personal life, and I didn’t know how to cope with it,” she shared.
“Finding those boots made me feel like I was taking a little piece of myself back.”
Though she never names Brady directly, the message is clear: strength often comes from the most unexpected places. And for Bridget, that strength came from a solid sole and a little badass leather.
Why Tom Selleck Still Surprises Her
Now 74, Tom Selleck still plays her onscreen father—and yes, people still notice. Moynahan shared how gracefully he’s aged, and fans of Blue Bloods would agree. Selleck has been married to Jillie Mack for over 30 years, and his life has been free from tabloid drama—which isn’t something you hear often in Hollywood.

The only “scandal”? A water dispute over his avocado orchard. “Honestly, that’s kind of on brand,” one fan joked.
Moynahan casually mentioned that she’d put Sam Elliott—also 74—on that same timeless list. Maybe it’s the steady presence, the voice, or just the way they’ve carried themselves all these years
Shoes, Stories, and a Quiet Confidence
Bridget’s book also includes personal stories from women like Katie Couric and Barbara Bush. One anecdote involves Barbara Bush wearing mismatched Keds in different colors. Another details Couric’s first “splurge” shoes after making it big in TV news.

“I may not remember the outfits,” Bridget said, “but I remember the shoes.”

It’s that kind of quiet strength that defines Moynahan as well. She doesn’t need to name names or chase headlines. She’s grounded. Thoughtful.. And, as she put it herself, still walking in the same boots that helped her get back on track.
