On Yellowstone, the cast spends most of their time in cowboy hats, denim, and plenty of dirt. But off-screen, they clean up exceptionally well. A great example is Kathryn Kelly, who plays Emily—the no-nonsense vet tech from the 6666 Ranch in Texas who won Jimmy Hurdstram’s heart. Even though she only appeared in seven episodes across Seasons 4 and 5, she quickly became a fan favorite.
Here is a look at what Kathryn Kelly is really like off-camera, how she compares to her character, and her stunning real-world style.

Kelly Shares Emily’s Sass—Just Not Her Fighting Spirit
Kelly says she brought a lot of her own personality to Emily.
“I definitely pulled my sass and wit for her! She says whatever comes to mind and I love that,” Kelly told the Television Academy. She also admires that Emily isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty.
However, Kelly draws the line at physical brawls. Referring to the famous scene where Emily gets into a fistfight with Jimmy’s ex, Mia, Kelly laughed: “I would also defend my guy, but I wouldn’t necessarily go swinging.”
Their styles are completely different, too. On the show, Emily dresses for ranch work in basic tank tops, button-downs, jeans, and boots. In real life, Kelly leans much more toward an elegant, bohemian look.
She Stuns on the Red Carpet
Emily spends her days working with horses and cattle, but Kelly looks right at home at glamorous Hollywood events.
- Season 5B Premiere (Nov 2024): Kelly walked the red carpet in New York City wearing an effortless, earth-toned polka-dot dress with a relaxed updo and simple silver jewelry. It was understated, stylish, and chic.
- Golden Globes Party (Jan 2025): She wowed the crowd in Beverly Hills wearing a sleek, backless black gown draped with a delicate chain accent across her back.
Her Day-to-Day Style Is All About Comfort
Kelly grew up outside Atlanta, Georgia, and still lives in the South. But instead of cowboy boots, she usually spends her downtime in comfortable athleisure and relaxed fits.
